Dr Marie Tidball has been selected as Penistone and Stocksbridge Labour’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, by members.
Yesterday, following a hustings event at Wortley Hall, and postal and online voting prior to that, Marie was elected – by members – as our candidate for the next election.
Marie was born in Dodworth, grew up in Penistone, attending the local comprehensive, Penistone Grammar School (PGS), and lived in Stocksbridge in her late teens.
She understands the value of world-class public services, as NHS operations and treatment allowed her to walk, and despite missing three years of school, she progressed from PGS to the University of Oxford, where she studied a degree in Law, then a Master’s and Doctorate in Criminology.
She lives in the constituency, where she is raising her daughter.
Marie will fight hard for Labour, here in the constituency, at the next General Election. Following the announcement, she said:
“I’m honoured to have been selected as Labour’s candidate for Penistone and Stocksbridge. I will work with members to get the Labour Party into power, so that we can once again be a government of transformative change.”
