We need your help! Yorkshire Water has plans to put in place parking charges at Langsett Barn car park.
We are calling on Yorkshire Water to withdraw the plans, to keep Langsett Barn car park free and ensure everybody in our community and beyond can enjoy Langsett village and surroundings free of charge.
Langsett village and nearby reservoir and moorland are a site of stunning natural beauty and treasure in our community. In the current cost of living crisis these parking charges will stop people from accessing one of our biggest local treasures, and prevent them from enjoying the wide range of benefits that we get from venturing out into the Peaks.
The plans come at a time when people are facing higher fuel bills and we are at risk of losing a third of our buses in South Yorkshire. There are currently no public transport links to Langsett Reservoir.
There are additional concerns around the detrimental impact the charges would have on the local businesses in Langsett, particularly the Waggon and Horses pub and neighbouring facilities which could see a reduction in footfall.
Further, we believe that Yorkshire Water, as a public body, have failed to carry out an adequate consultation on these proposals, excluding voices of our communities.
